Inter-faith couple thrashed by ‘moral police’ in Assam

GUWAHATI: In but every other example of ethical policing in Assam, a person and a lady were allegedly confined and overwhelmed up on Saturday by villagers in Assam’s Nagaon district for having an “illicit affair”.

“Residents of Jhumurmur village bodily assaulted Devi Barua and Ubed Ullah and confined them in a house. After receiving data, a police workforce from the Kathiatoli outpost rushed to the spot and rescued the victims,” Assam Police stated in a remark.

The police on Monday arrested eight other folks within the case. “ A couple of more arrests are most probably,” Nagaon SP Shankar Barata Raimedhi advised TOI.
