Coimbatore: A carpenter, who had performed some work in a hardware shop at Mill Road right here a couple of months ago, used to be arrested on Saturday for stealing Rs 10.54 lakh from there.
He used to be recognized as R Himdharam from Mill Road. “As he had worked in the shop before, he knew where the surveillance cameras have been dealing with and where the property have been stored. He broke opened the shop remaining Wednesday and looted the money. Employees of the shop discovered the gated front broke open around 9am. Rs 10.54 lakh and a digital video recorder have been missing,” a police officer said.
RS Puram police inspector K Eswaran and workforce inspected the spot and registered a case under Section 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police arrested Himdharam on Saturday and seized the stolen money from him. He used to be remanded in judicial custody.
