HYDERABAD: After having failed to take the disinvestment plan of Air India forward, the Centre is now mulling to infuse fresh capital into the ailing airways, said an authentic in the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday.
RN Choubey, secretary, Civil Aviation, said the disinvestment plan would be taken up as soon as the conditions had been favourable.
A decision will probably be taken (on capital infusion into Air India). It will probably be taken very soon," Choubey advised newshounds here.
"No support is given with out some more or less timeline being determined for Air India to deliver. Whenever a central authority support is prolonged, there will probably be a corresponding timeline given to Air India to deliver on the ones expectancies," he additional said.
He said the federal government would offer important support to Air
India for bettering its working. Last year, Air India used to be breaking even so far as operational costs had been concerned, he added.
The proposed stake sale in Air India failed to draw any preliminary bidder when the cut-off date for bidding ended on May 31.
Under the Air India disinvestment plan, the federal government used to be to promote 76 according to cent stake in the nationwide provider in conjunction with whole divestment of low cost arm Air India Express and a 50 according to cent stake in Air India SATS Airport Services Pvt Ltd - an equal joint venture with Singapore-based SATS.
"The govt is committed to disinvestment in Air India. At provide, the conditions are not quite favourable. So, we're reviewing the location. Since, we're committed to disinvestment at an appropriate time, when the location improves, and after we judge that there's a call for, we would undoubtedly continue once more with the method, he said.
Replying to a question, he said 20 airports have thus far been connected below the Udan Scheme. The govt has awarded 56 airports below the scheme. UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme seeks to attach unserved and under-served airports as well as make flying more affordable, he added.
