HOSHIARPUR: Giving a clarion call to make Punjab a drug-free state, the march in opposition to drug risk arranged by means of Dal Khalsa and supported by means of a dozen village panchayat’s termed the drug suppliers as enemies of society.
Carrying black flags and placards, the protesters marched on bikes and tractors from village to village urging the people to end the conspiracy of silence on drug abuse and disclose political-police-smuggler nexus. They asked the villagers to impress upon the panchayats to move resolutions for social boycott of those who are indulged in drug business.
Holding policemen, politicians and the federal government all answerable for allowing the placement to reach at the alarming position, the organizers submitted the memorandum addressed to Deputy Commissioner urging the administration to curb the risk before it takes more lives.
Dal Khalsa district president Harvinder Singh Harmoyae the organizer of the march said, “the state machinery including the police, either because of negligence or as part of a grand design is making sure the availability of gear from different states and the politicians who've their eyes at the voter lists are allowing the drug business to flourish.”
Dal Khalsa organizing secretary Ranbir Singh said, “we believe policemen are energetic avid gamers in drug trafficking and are allowing proliferation of drug rackets in Punjab was once part of a design to have interaction the Punjabi formative years in drugs to mar their political consciousness and to counter the fighting spirit in them”.
