NEW DELHI: An advocate of the Delhi high court docket was arrested after a legislation intern alleged that she have been raped by way of him on several occasions.
The 42-year-old accused legal professional, a resident of Faridabad, was sent to police remand after being produced prior to a magistrate. He has been taken to Ahmedabad for collection of evidence, said DCP (New Delhi district) Madhur Verma.
The girl had filed a grievance at Tilak Marg police station on July nine, following which a group led by way of SHO Naresh Kumar was formed to investigate the case. The group arrested him from considered one of his chambers on Tuesday afternoon.
In a commentary to TOI, the Delhi High Court Bar Association (HCBA) condemned the incident. HCBA secretary Amit Sharma, on the other hand, clarified that the accused was now not enlisted with the association and now not its member, nor was he given a chamber by way of HCBA.
In her grievance, the girl said that she was interning with another advocate in 2016, as a part of her school programme module. During this time she was presented to the accused. The accused steadily called her to to his administrative center and gave her paintings, she said. Problems began when she returned for a 2nd internship after a couple of months. Then, he allegedly lured her into running with him.
The girl told police that the accused first molested her in his chamber and later apologised. He also claimed that he would give her a stipend of Rs 10,000. On July 15, 2016 he requested her to accompany him to Ahmedabad for a very powerful assembly.
“The accused had allegedly booked one room and satisfied her to stay with him. In the early hours, the accused compelled himself on her. When she objected, he claimed that he had filmed the act and threatened to liberate the video if she told somebody about it,” said a senior police officer quoting her commentary.
The girl alleged that he even told her that earlier too he had raped an air-hostess and filmed the act. He boasted that nothing came about to him if that's the case. Later, the accused allegedly assaulted her few extra times.
The police have checked the veracity of this claim and located that an FIR of rape have been filed in opposition to him in 2007, however he was acquitted if that's the case due to loss of evidence.
