MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India has launched a new Rs 100 denomination banknote in the Mahatma Gandhi series with a Swachh Bharat emblem in lavender color. This is the primary word product of totally domestic materials.
“This word is designed in India, published on foreign money paper made in India. The ink is made in India and even the security features were made by Indian corporations. This is a dream come true,” mentioned Kaza Sudhakar, who recently retired as managing director of Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (BRBNM), which prints banknotes.
The new Rs 100 word was once designed in the BRBNM Design Studio in Mysore, Sudhakar added.
The new word can have a different dimension from the prevailing Rs 100 word, this means that that it's going to no longer be to be had in ATMs until the machines are recalibrated.
The new banknote, bearing the signature of RBI governor Urjit R Patel, has a motif of Gujarat’s ‘Rani Ki Vav’ at the opposite, depicting the rustic’s cultural heritage.
The base color of the word is lavender and it incorporates different designs and geometric patterns, aligning with the overall color scheme, each at the obverse and opposite.
According to Sudhakar, this can be a routine introduction of a new foreign money word and the previous design notes will be phased out over a time period.
