GHAZIABAD: Two suspected automobile snatchers had been arrested on Friday night time in Loni. Nine stolen cars were recovered from their posession, police officers said.
Police said the two males, along with their accomplices, used digital units and laptops to first switch off the sensors and GPS of the automobiles before stealing them. The stolen cars and SUVs had been then taken to garages in Moradabad and Sambhal districts the place their chassis and engines had been replaced with those automobiles that have been broken in injuries. Later, they had been sold in Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.
The arrested persons have confessed to stealing no less than 60 automobiles from Delhi and NCR previously two months, the police added.
They were identified as Nafees, a native of Sambhal and Imran, who belongs to Moradabad. Four in their accomplices are nonetheless absconding. One of the absconding, Sageer, is a professional in deactivating sensors and GPS of automobiles via various units and laptops.
Ghaziabad SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “All contributors of the group have explicit activity assigned to them. Krishna said the group has been energetic in Delhi and NCR since final five-six months and the contributors used to thieve two cars every day on an average. Interestingly, the group contributors used the calling facility of WhatsApp to remain in contact.
