BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Tuesday targeted the Centre over lengthen in announcement of the minimal beef up value (MSP) of major plants together with paddy for the kharif season 2018.

Raising the issue here, state agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy said farmers in Odisha are in dilemma because of lengthen in MSP announcement, which has also affected the agricultural activities here.

“The Centre normally fixes the MSP through mid-June. It is unfortunate that they (NDA government) are but to fix the beef up value of major plants till date. The state government has already really helpful the Centre to fix the MSP at Rs 2930 per quintal (for common selection),” Maharathy instructed newshounds here.

The agriculture minister said the fee for agriculture prices and costs (CACP) below the Union ministry of agriculture has prompt the state government to fix the MSP at Rs 1745 per quintal.
