“If you scan through the Census stories of 1971and 2011, then the Sikh inhabitants has grown most effective little less than 3 times in 40 years whilst different native inhabitants groups have grown 5 to 10 times in inhabitants numbers. In maximum likelihood, in response to the Census figures throughout 40 years, they are descendants of the original settlers,” council secretary Bawa Singh Jagdev identified in his letter to Indian High Commissioner Dr A N Gondane.

The council has also stated the management seems to be mocking quite a lot of delegations from Punjab that got here to sympathise with the native distressed Sikh populations in Shillong. “The management has made up its mind to uproot Sikhs after 180 years, pointing out that they aren't authentic settlers,” the council has argued. “How come a colony which was once established over 180 years in the past, in a single day was illegally occupied? If this isn't as a result of that piece of land has now become high assets, then what else?” it has requested.
