TN: Fire breaks out in Palayamkottai school

MADURAI: The students in a private school in Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli city deserted their books and luggage and ran out the school building on Wednesday afternoon when a fireplace broke out in a school room because of a suspected electric short circuit.
Nobody used to be injured within the incident came about in Rose Mary School. The hearth damaged notebooks, furniture and a couple of electronic devices.

The hearth broke out round 12.15pm, and a thick smoke emanated from a smart school room on the second flooring of the three-storey building. Noticing the smoke, teachers evacuated the scholars from the building and informed the fireplace and rescue services department.

Station hearth officer of Palayamkottai hearth station U Ramesh told TOI that they received a fireplace name round 12.30pm.


Two hearth tenders reached the spot and started firefighting. “Students have been evacuated and efforts to fight the flames began instantly. The flames have been put out in a short while,” he mentioned.


“We suspect that the flames may have been caused by way of a brief circuit within the smart school room. There have been hearth extinguishers at the flooring, however they weren't used,” he added.


District collector Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, deputy commissioner of police for Tirunelveli City Suguna Singh, officers from the school education and other departments visited where and carried out preliminary inquiries. The collector told reporters that the school records could be perused and motion could be taken against the control if there used to be any fault on their part.
