Arun Jaitley returns to office, takes charge of finance ministry

NEW DELHI: Union minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday made his go back to the finance ministry after being away for three months, getting better from a kidney surgical procedure. Jaitley had gone through a renal transplant operation on May 14.

He also took charge of the corporate affairs ministry.



“The President of India, as urged by means of the Prime Minister, has directed to assign the portfolios of the Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs to Arun Jaitley,” an professional commentary mentioned.

Since his surgical procedure, Jaitley has been staying in managed surroundings as in step with the docs' advice.

Railway and coal minister Piyush Goyal were dealing with the finance portfolio in Jaitley's absence.


Jaitley has been relatively lively on social media -- writing blogs on various financial and non-economic issues, like National Register for Citizens (NRC) in Assam, over four-decades of Emergency, No-confidence Motion in Parliament, Rafael fighter jet deal, and GST, even while he was clear of his place of job in the North Block.


He also attended the Rajya Sabha for the election of Deputy Chairman on August nine in what was his first public appearance in over 4 months.
