NEW DELHI: Veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar passed on to the great beyond on Wednesday night time in a Delhi medical institution. He used to be 95.
Nayar had served as top commissioner of India to the United Kingdom. He used to be also nominated as a member of the Upper House of Parliament in 1997. The veteran journalist had began his profession with an Urdu newspaper.
Expressing his condolence on the demise of Nayar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him a person who used to be "frank and fearless" in his perspectives. PM Modi said Nayar used to be an intellectual massive of our instances, "Frank and fearless in his views, his work spanned across many decades. His strong stand against the Emergency, public service and commitment to a better India will always be remembered. Saddened by his demise. My condolences."
Nayar could also be the author of 15 books, together with Beyond the Lines, Distant Neighbours: A Tale of the Subcontinent, India after Nehru, amongst others.
He is survived by way of his wife and two sons.
