Kerala floods: Cabinet secretary directs Armed Forces, Coast Guard, NDRF to mobilise additional boats and equipment

NEW DELHI: A gathering of the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) chaired via cupboard secretary PK Sinha on Friday directed the three Armed Forces forces, Coast Guard and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to mobilise additional boats and gear, together with from CRPF, BSF and SSB, for rescue and relief in flood-hit Kerala.

Indian Navy has deployed 51 boats along side diving groups, 1,000 lifestyles jackets and 1,300 gumboots are being rushed to Kerala nowadays. It flew 16 sorties in 48 hours in rescue operations. It will airdrop 1,600 meals packets nowadays.

Coast Guard has deployed 30 boats along side rescue groups, 300 lifestyles jackets, seven lifestyles rafts and 144 lifestyles buoys.

The IAF deployed 23 helicopters and 11 transport airplane. Some of the airplane are being flown in from Yelahanka and Nagpur.

Army pressed into provider 10 columns, 10 Engineering Task Forces (ETFs), 60 boats and 100 lifestyles jackets.


NDRF has mobilised 43 rescue groups and 163 boats along side different apparatus. Railways has equipped 1,20,000 water bottles. Another 1,20,000 bottles are in a position to be despatched.
