BEIRUT: Representatives from Syria's Kurdish-run northeastern region met with the federal government in Damascus last week to talk about self-administration in a postwar Syria, a leading Kurdish authentic stated Tuesday.
It was the second one meeting between the two sides, and so they agreed to continue their discussions, stated Ilham Ahmed, the co-president of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Council.
The SDC delegation pressed for constitutional reforms to enshrine regional self-administration, stated Ahmed, who described the federal government's reaction as "not positive."
"We have lots of work ahead of us, and I don't think this will be easy," stated Ahmed.
The Syrian govt has vowed to reassert its rule over the entire country after surviving seven years of civil war.
President Bashar Assad is challenging the departure of US troops, who're embedded with the military arm of the SDC, the Syrian Democratic Forces, in the northeast Rojava region.
US forces supported the Syrian Democratic Forces in their marketing campaign towards the Islamic State staff in northeastern Syria. An estimated 2,000 US troops and armed forces advisers are in northern Syria, and the United States operates air bases in the Kurdish-administered region.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring staff says the drones have been downed past due Monday. It says that is the fifth time in as many days that drones had been shot down as they attempted to succeed in the air base.
The Observatory and Syrian state media say the drones have been introduced by rebels preserving territory in the neighboring Idlib province in northwestern Syria.
