Sidhu, Kapil get formal invite for Imran's swearing-in ceremony

CHANDIGARH: Former cricketer and Punjab native our bodies minister Navjot Sidhu officially were given an invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of Pakistan's Tehereek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan as Prime Minister.

Sidhu, who has greater than 3 decade's affiliation with Imran as a cricketer and commentator, stated he were given the invite in a non-public capacity. "Khan Saab even called me up inviting for the event on Friday. We chatted for a few minutes. I congratulated and conveyed my best wishes to him. This invite is in personal capacity and I have forwarded it to the union government for perusal," stated Sidhu while talking with TOI.




The invite despatched from PTI chairman's secretariat stated: "It's indeed a great pleasure to have invited you for the oath-taking ceremony of PTI's Chairman Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The event will be held in Islamabad on Saturday, August 18, 2018. We would want you to kindly grace this historic occasion with your presence."


Sidhu disclosed that former Indian Cricket crew captain Kapil Dev, who has been Imran's contemporary, has also confirmed having received an invitation.


Recalling his affiliation with Imran, Sidhu stated, his indomitable spirit and ability to lead from the front has been the hallmark of Imran's towering character and his ascend to the prime ministership is ready to offer a new starting to the India-Pakistan members of the family in the coming occasions.
