NEW YORK: The youngster son of a police leader in California, who brutally assaulted a 71-year-old Sikh man, grinned and made obscene gestures all over his first courtroom appearance, in line with a media file.
Sahib Singh Natt was once attacked ultimate week and spit at via 18-year-old Tyrone McAllister and his 16-year-old juvenile pal in Manteca, California.
McAllister, the son of Union City Police Chief Darryl McAllister, and the juvenile have been charged with attempted robbery, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.
On Friday, younger McAllister entered the court and flipped his heart arms to a cameraman. He then dropped his hands prior to throwing up his heart finger a 2nd time, Sacramento's FOX 40 reported.
He gave the impression to be grinning, and made suspected gang indicators whilst his hands have been cuffed, the file added.
Younger McAllister gave the impression in the courtroom for his arraignment. No bail was once set for the teen.
The attack on Natt all over his morning walk was once captured via surveillance cameras and confirmed the 2 teenagers beating the old man whilst dressed in hoodies. One, who was once dressed in a black hoodie, was once brandishing a gun.
Investigators have been still having a look into whether the attack meets the legal standards for charging a hate crime, the file said.
"As to whether it was just a crime or a hate crime, I'm of the opinion that at this point, looking at the videos, that it's just a crime committed by some young people," Bobby Bivens, president of the Stockton branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People, was once quoted as announcing.
