3 students with links to Kashmir terror groups arrested in Punjab

CHANDIGARH/SRINAGAR: In a joint operation, the Punjab Police and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police Wednesday arrested 3 students and busted a module of Kashmiri terror outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) in Jalandhar.

The students have been nabbed from the hostel of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology, positioned in Shahpur at the outskirts of Jalandhar, Director General of Police Suresh Arora mentioned in a remark issued right here.

The joint workforce, which carried out a raid at the hostel early this morning, also seized two guns, together with an Assault Rifle, and explosives from the hostel room of B.Tech (Civil) student of second semester, Zahid Gulzar, resident of Rajpora, PS Awantipora, Srinagar (J&Okay).

Zahid was arrested along with Mohd. Idriss Shah alias Nadeem, resident of Pulwama Jammu and Kashmir, and Yusuf Rafiq Bhatt, resident of Noorpura, Pulwama J&Okay.

The DGP mentioned the arrests followed the improvement and corroboration of more than a few leads/inputs about the presence and activities of sure militant organisations/individuals running in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.

A case has been registered in PS Sadar Jalandhar in this regard.

Further investigations are in development and the Punjab Police is operating carefully with the J&Okay Police to get to the bottom of all the conspiracy and network built by way of those outfits/individuals in Punjab and J&Okay, mentioned the DGP.


He mentioned the busting of the phobia module belonging to AGH, and the seizure of guns in Jalandhar, was indicative of efforts by way of Pakistan's ISI to enlarge the arc of militancy on India's western border.


It could also be mentioned that Gazi Ahmad Malik, resident of Shopian, J&Okay, was just lately picked-up by way of the Punjab Police from Banur, Patiala, (the place he was finding out in Aryans Group Polytechnic College).


It was learnt that Gazi was carefully associated with Adil Bashir Sheikh, a J&Okay Police special police officers who had fled with seven Rifles from the place of dwelling of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA in Srinagar and was suspected to have joined Hizbul Mujahideen, a militant team, he mentioned.


He was later handed over to the J&Okay Police for additional investigations.
