BERLIN: German Chancellor Angela Merkel has instructed leaders of her Christian Democrats (CDU) that she won't seek re-election as birthday party chairwoman at a conference in early December, a senior birthday party supply stated on Monday.

Merkel, 64, has been CDU chairwoman since 2000 and giving up the function would get started a race inside the birthday party to be successful her as chancellor. The euro fell to consultation lows at the news.
