Dhanteras: BSE, NSE to extend trade in gold ETFs, bonds

NEW DELHI: Top stock exchanges NSE and BSE have made up our minds to increase the buying and selling consultation for gold exchange traded budget (ETFs) and sovereign gold bonds (SGB) on November 5, till 7 pm on the instance of Dhanteras, a festival celebrated two days earlier than Diwali.

Gold ETFs monitor the metals costs and every unit of these securities is most often identical to 1 gram of gold, while SGB are govt securities denominated in grams of gold and be offering an alternative choice to holding gold in bodily form.

The exchanges will conduct 'muhurat' buying and selling consultation on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan on November 7 from 5:30 pm to six:30 pm, BSE and NSE said in separate notices.

"On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras on Monday November 5, 2018 the exchange has decided to conduct extended live trading session in Gold ETF securities and SGB securities in the equity segment," BSE said.

Separately, National Stock Exchange (NSE) also announced about extended buying and selling periods on Dhanteras.

After the regular marketplace hours from nine:15 am to 3:30 pm, buying and selling in gold ETFs and SGB will resume at four:30 pm on November 5 and proceed till 7 pm, the exchanges said.

It is thought of as auspicious to shop for valuables like gold on events like Dhanteras, Diwali and Akshay Tritiya in India.
