SURAT: It was business as usual in Surat, a diamond hub and main textile production centre on the planet, when Hind-speaking migrants had been being attacked and threatened by miscreants in different portions of Gujarat after the rape of a 14-month outdated woman in Sabarkantha district allegedly by a native of Bihar on September 28.
Out of 55 lakh population in the city, it is estimated that over 60% of them have come from different portions of the country in search of better employment alternatives.
