Markets finish higher as Sensex gains 132 points; Nifty above 10,500

NEW DELHI: Markets finished higher in a volatile industry on Monday with the benchmark BSE Sensex rising over 130 points and the broader NSE Nifty reclaiming the 10,500-mark. The 30-share BSE index received 132 points to near at 34,865, whilst Nifty climbed 40 points to finish at 10,512.

Both the BSE and NSE indices surged 0.38 per cent respectively.

Shares of Infosys, ITC, ONGC and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) were among the main gainers on Sensex, rising as much as three.57 per cent.


On NSE, sub-indices Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT surged the most, rising as much as 2.61 per cent.


“Oil and rupee are using markets as of now. A susceptible rupee affects our fiscal deficit... Inflation and IIP knowledge, each were fairly higher,” stated Anita Gandhi, wholetime director, Arihant Capital Markets.


Equity indices had started the week on a flat note with Sensex shedding over 40 points in the opening industry.
