NEW DELHI: Chairman of the standing committee on defence Kalraj Mishra has rejected Congress members’ demand to speak about the Rafale deal and to call the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited leader to position forth his views on the agreement with France.
As according to assets, Congress members stated detrimental comments were being made about HAL at a time when the federal government was once selling ‘Make in India’. They instructed that the committee will have to support the company and its leader will have to be given a chance to explain the statements made about its features. Citing the SC order in search of details of the procedure followed in purchase of Rafale planes, Congress members stated the committee could seek such details from government if the court docket could do so.
“Congress members instructed that the standing committee too could talk about the topic as it involved defence procurement proceduresand coverage on defence manufacturing in public sector devices in the context of government’s Make in India coverage,” a source stated.
