NEW DELHI: Inflation in response to wholesale costs rose to a two-month top of 5.13 in line with cent in September, mainly due to hardening of food costs and upward push in value of petrol and diesel.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation stood at 4.53 in line with cent in August and three.14 in line with cent in September last yr.
According to the federal government information launched Monday, food articles witnessed hardening of prices with deflation at zero.21 in line with cent September as against 4.04 in line with cent in August.
Deflation in greens was three.83 in line with cent in September, compared to 20.18 in line with cent within the earlier month.
Inflation in 'fuel and power' basket in September was 16.65 in line with cent. Individually, in petrol and diesel it was 17.21 in line with cent and 22.18 in line with cent, respectively, and for LPG it was 33.51 in line with cent.
Among food articles, potato inflation spiked to 80.13 in line with cent in September, while onion and culmination witnessed deflation of 25.23 in line with cent and seven.35 in line with cent, respectively. Deflation in pulses stood at 18.14 in line with cent.
The 5.13 in line with cent inflation is the easiest in two months, and a better inflation than this degree was last observed in July at 5.27 in line with cent.
