JHARSUGUDA: Stepping up the force at the govt for the established order of a prime court docket bench, the Central Action Committee of Bar Associations of western Odisha have called for a 48-hour complete shutdown or mahabandh from Thursday morning.
"We have requested the youths, students and workers associated with various organisations to support the bandh. The district bar associations have been requested to observe the bandh in a peaceful manner. However, we will intensify the agitation, if our demands are not fulfilled," Ashok Das, convener, Central Action Committee (CAC), said.
Many concern that folks from the lower-income group, especially the day-to-day wage earners, will be the worst-affected through the bandh. "They should have at least allowed educational institutions to function during the bandh," Jharsuguda resident Sanjay Agarwal said.
"We cannot do anything about the bandh. It will hamper our business, but we have to manage somehow. We have no choice," Manu Singh, an auto driving force from Sarasmal, said.
On Wednesday, the individuals of Jharsuguda Bar Association had taken out a motorcycle rally across the the city asking residents to make the Maha Bandh a grand luck.
With the exception of scientific and emergency products and services, all of the industry institutions, including those run through the federal government and private organisations, and faculties and faculties, will remain close. Even the night time trainer buses is not going to ply all over the bandh.
"We request the Centre, the state government and chief justice of Odisha to fulfil the demand for the establishment of a high court in western Odisha, by declaring the place where it will be set up," Raghumani Patel, president of Jharsuguda Bar Association, said.
