Seers moot constitutional amendment for early disposal of Ram mandir issue

VARANASI: The Param Dharam Sansad, hosted via Shankaracharya of Jyotish and Sharda Dwarka peeths Swaroopanand Saraswati, ended on Wednesday after issuing a "dharmadesh", or spiritual diktat, that requested the federal government to "ensure necessary amendment of the Constitution to ensure that the Supreme Court disposes the issue of Ramjanmabhoomi on a priority by considering it a matter of national importance and public interest".

Following the concluding session of the Param Dharam Sansad, the Shankaracharya issued the "dharmadesh" during which he requested the federal government to "amend the Constitution and include a new section on the lines of Sections 133, 136 and 226(3) to declare that Ram Janmabhoomi is an issue of national importance and public interest".


"If the government brings an ordinance in this regard, the SC will have to dispose of this issue within four weeks, otherwise the stay given by it will become ineffective," he mentioned, adding, "It is just a coincidence that all the basic formalities for this provision, like serving of notices and paper work, are already complete."


Swami Swaroopanand additionally requested the federal government to "draw the SC's attention towards the procedure of day-to-day-basis hearing followed by the lower courts and Allahabad high court's Lucknow bench to dispose of the case".


He mentioned a duplicate of the "dharmadesh" had "been forwarded to the Lok Sabha Speaker" to table it in the House all through the iciness session of Parliament from December 11".
