Summons to sharp-shooter Khan to deposit gun

Nagpur: The Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) investigation officer dealing with the T1 killing case on Thursday issued summons to Hyderabad’s sharp shooter Asghar Ali Khan for surrendering the gun utilized in killing T1.

The Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSC), Nagpur, has refused to do analysis of ballistic samples, which assumes significance, until the weapon used within the killing was deposited.

According to extremely placed sources, a group led by way of Yavatmal mobile squad range wooded area officer (RFO) Rahman Sheikh was despatched to Khan’s place of dwelling in Hyderabad with the summons. But, as both father Shafath Ali Khan and Asghar were away in Tamil Nadu, the staff pasted the summons on their gate.

The summons has been issued beneath Section 50 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, which deals with search, arrest and detention.


Nearly after a month T1 was shot useless, the gun used for killing has not been deposited by way of Khan even if he came to Pandharkawda twice this month to look before two committees probing the T1 case.


“There are contradictory statements from Khan whether he has surrendered the gun to Telangana police or the weapon is with him. He informed investigation officers that he can't give the gun,” stated sources.


Yavatmal CCF PG Rahurkar, who invited Khan in Pandharkawda, didn't reply to TOI calls.
