SURAT: A 27-year-old businessman used to be booked at Umra police station for allegedly threatening his wife to upload their private videos on social media. His oldsters have been also booked for harassing the 26-year-old woman on Tuesday.


Police booked Aakar Chavda and his oldsters Mahendra and Pratima for harassing the complainant under Information Technology Act and various sections of Indian Penal Code together with 498 (enticing or doing away with or detaining with criminal intent a married woman), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).


The woman alleged in her criticism that throughout the past 12 months of their marriage, she used to be being harassed by her husband in conjunction with his oldsters. She has alleged that her husband had threatened to make their private videos move viral on social media. The woman has submitted to cops the chat messages during which he had threatened her. The woman alleged her husband may have shot the videos with hidden cameras installed of their bedroom. The complainant also alleged that she used to be thrashed by the accused a number of instances.


“Based on the threats issued via chat messages, now we have registered a police criticism towards the accused. We are yet to recuperate the videos from the accused. Police will investigate the case to find out whether the accused had shot any video. Statements of family members and friends of the couple will probably be taken quickly,” said a police officer in Umra police station.
