COIMBATORE: Commercial fishing could be banned in the Singanallur Lake right here from January 1 to lend a hand conserve the biodiversity of the water body, mentioned Tamil Nadu municipal administration minister S P Velumani on Sunday.
“All the 19 lakes in the district are being leased out to carry out industrial fishing. Numerous fish is being stuck from the Singanllur Lake which in flip is affecting the biodiversity of the water body. Commercial fishing is banned in the Singanallur Lake,” the minister mentioned.

The lake is unfold throughout 288 acres and has over 720 species, 400 types of plants together with 200 types of natural crops. Around 10 uncommon species of birds had been discovered in the lake.
