Dalit labourer alleges assault by factory owner

RAJKOT: Morbi Taluka police have booked five persons including a ceramic unit proprietor for allegedly thrashing a Dalit man running within the factory.

It was on December 21 night that Amit Chauhan (23), who works as a labourer in Woogo Sanitary Works, was overwhelmed up by means of proprietor Vishal Patel and 4 other employees.

Chauhan lodged a complaint next day announcing that he had gone to Morbi the city for some shopping and returned past due within the night. When he got here again, Patel known as him to his administrative center and asked him the reason for coming so past due. He also accused him of harassing other labourers by means of unnecessarily knocking the doorways in their rooms when they were asleep.

Along with Patel, other employees recognized as Manish Patel, Jignesh Patel, Chetan Patel and Munna Master allegedly thrashed him with sticks and wood bats. They also locked him up for a while in a automobile.

The accused have been booked for atrocity and other sections of IPC. However, they are yet to be arrested.


The investigation has been passed over to the SC/ST cellular.


Preliminary investigation advised that Chauhan used to incessantly harass the other labourers by means of banging their doorways past due within the night.


Chauhan, a native of Gujarvadi village near Dhrangadhra, had joined the unit a few month-and-a-half ago. He lives in a room there with his oldsters.
