Surat: Tapi Shuddhikaran project, which remains stuck and seems to be going nowhere, raised hackles of participants of Tapi Safai Abhiyan Sankalan Samiti at a gathering attended by income minister Kaushik Patel in the city on Monday.
A few participants had been frustrated that the project has did not take-off as envisioned. Files relating to Tapi Shuddhikaran project are still mendacity with IIT Roorkee waiting for technical approval. They are but to be despatched for ultimate clearance to Central Government. The agitated participants demanded that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) be shaped and Rs922 crore transferred to it to implement the Tapi Shuddhikaran project. The sankalan samiti, which is chaired by Surat district collector Dhaval Patel and has MLAs and MPs amongst others as participants, additionally demanded that the SPV be saved out of political interference.

“SPV may also be entrusted with the work of Tapi shuddhikaran project. This will assist accelerate the work,” Majura MLA Harsh Sanghvi mentioned.


“Things will only get started transferring on the ground with regard to the project when clearances come, and they're taking indefinite time coming,” mentioned an officer of Surat Municipal Corporation.
