PANAJI: The Congress on Sunday vehemently objected to moves to open the cable-stayed Mandovi bridge for traffic in January, and said that they might save you the state government from inaugurating the bridge.

The Congress alleged that each one safety measures weren't in position for the bridge, and that the state government used to be in a haste to inaugurate the bridge in view of the approaching Lok Sabha elections.


“We will save you the inauguration of the bridge because it's incomplete,” said state Congress president Girish Chodankar. “I can't understand this government’s haste in inaugurating the bridge and playing with other people’s lives.”


The Congress didn't reveal how the birthday party would save you the inauguration of the bridge, however said that they'd already chalked up a strategy to do so. To underscore his concerns about the bridge, the birthday party said that the similar marketing consultant who designed the cable-stayed Mandovi bridge used to be involved in the design of a bridge that collapsed in Surat.


Chodankar demanded that the bridge needs to go through stringent quality checks prior to being thrown open for traffic.
