PANAJI: Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has called a meeting of the BJP’s legislature wing on Saturday to talk about the political scenario in the state and prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP has 14 seats in the 40-member Goa legislative meeting. A senior BJP functionary advised TOI that the assembly could also be likely to be attended via govt officials.
The senior leader mentioned that it has been some time since Parrikar called a meeting of the legislature wing of the party. Previously, the executive minister used to meet the wing each and every Friday to solve MLAs’ pending issues.
Senior party assets advised TOI that Parrikar would meet MLAs for part an hour and would ask them to arrange for the Lok Sabha election, in order that the BJP wins each seats.
Political analysts say that there is growing resentment alongside the mining belt as the federal government has no longer been able to emerge with an answer at the mining issue. Thus, if Parrikar doesn’t have a way to the problem, the BJP could be forced to pay attention to non-mining belt constituencies.
There could also be resentment inside the party itself, as the management has come to a standstill. A senior party functionary mentioned that Parrikar may direct officials on the assembly to transparent long-pending development works.
Sources in the know mentioned that MLAs are likely to raise the problem of presidency jobs. When Parrikar closing met individuals of his cupboard, a minister raised the problem, and Parrikar later advised that the jobs be launched. Then, the state govt issued an workplace memorandum (OM) to start out recruitment to over 1,200 posts, all of which have been cleared via the high-level empowered committee (HLEC).
The state govt, ahead of the closing meeting election, had banned direct recruitment to avoid resentment amongst voters. Despite this being undone by means of the OM, one MLA mentioned that even now, not anything has moved at the recruitment entrance.
