Gujarat govt suspends whistleblower

GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government has suspended an additional secretary (rural construction division) for talking in public about corruption in the Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board. Anil Patel, the officer, has also been transferred to Rajkot to a training division of the state government. The CM has ordered the state vigilance commissioner to verify the allegations of corruption in the board raised via Patel.
In an audio clip that has long past viral, Patel is heard talking with an RTI activist and alleging rampant corruption in the construction of religious places like Dwarka, Somnath, Shamlaji and so on. Patel has admitted that it's his voice and that he had raised the problems in writing before the federal government, but had by no means won any reaction.

After Patel made his allegations public, CM Vijay Rupani ordered a proper inquiry against him, with Patel being suspended from service and transferred from Gandhinagar.

When contacted, Patel said, “I will be able to end up my allegations of corruption in the Pavitra Yatradham Board are true in court if required. I will be able to fight for withdrawal of my suspension in court.’’

“Earlier too, the federal government had stopped my promotions and ordered an inquiry against me, once I acted as a whistleblower in the irrigation, fisheries and different departments. But I used to be exonerated and the federal government had to clear my promotions. When I sought permission to report defamation fits against corrupt government, the federal government had withheld permission,” said Patel.

Sangeeta Singh, additional leader secretary (ACS), common management division (GAD), staff division famous in the suspension order of Patel,“Patel has made allegations against the executive minister’s place of work and different government businesses and used mistaken language against the upper government in the government which is against the service conduct laws, so Patel has been transferred to SPIPA Rajkot unit and has also been suspended until the crowning glory of the inquiry against him.”

In a separate order, the executive minister also directed the state vigilance commissioner to officially inquire all allegations made via Patel against the Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board and the tourism division.

Nitin Patel, deputy leader minister had said, “According to the service conduct laws, no officer can openly make any allegation against the federal government like this. The officer began making such allegation after being got rid of (earlier) from the Yatradham Board.’’

When contacted, Patel said,“I am on medical leave and don’t find out about my suspension and switch. But if it’s true it’s very discouraging for all truthful officials who wish to forestall corruption in the government.”

Patel added, “I have given all of the data to the federal government of poor high quality work executed at Dwarka and different non secular places. Some officers who attempted to silence me are defaming me. I will be able to fight again in the court of law.”
