JEE Main 2019: General strike on January 8, 9 to hit JEE candidates

KOCHI: The two-day nationwide common strike known as through central trade unions on January eight and 9 will hit 1000's of scholars appearing for the JEE Main slotted in the second one week of January (2019).

The national testing agency (NTA) is planning to hold JEE Main two times this year from Jan eight to 12 (first strive) and April eight to 12 (2nd strive) and students - who have assessments on January eight and 9 - would to find it onerous to achieve examination venues as delivery amenities - including road and rail - would be affected.

NTA director common Vineet Joshi mentioned that, as of now, the agency has no plans to reschedule the checks. "However, we will be holding a meeting to discuss the matter soon," he mentioned. The common strike introduced in September has the enhance of over 10 central trade unions including CITU, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, AIRF and NFIR.

Trade union leaders mentioned they were not aware of entrance checks on these dates. "This is a national strike that was announced quite early and no one had approached us with representations," mentioned INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan, including that it would not be imaginable to delay the dates.

President of Kerala CBSE Schools Management Association TPM Ibrahim Khan mentioned this subject had not come to his consideration previous. "We don't even know whom to give a representation since this is a national strike. Students are already worried because their exam dates have been advanced," mentioned Khan.


Principal of Gregorian Public School Jayaprabha Pradeep mentioned she was once ignorant of the problem however felt that there was once very little the schools could do about the problem. "Let us hope they postpone the strike," she mentioned. Parents are worried because delivery is going to be an enormous problem on a strike day.


"My son has his exams on January 12. Though this may not affect him directly, I am worried for other students since I understand their plight," mentioned Dr Shoba, mom of a Class XII scholar.


Director of Brilliant Study Centre (Pala) Ramachandran mentioned many scholars are involved through the strike. "I hope they postpone the test dates to avoid inconvenience to students. Though most students have been given test centres of their choice, transport would be a problem because strike will go on for two days," he mentioned.
