Rathwa community warns of boycotting political parties

Vadodara: Even because the state government has formed a committee to look into the demands of the Rathwa group, its leaders has warned of boycotting political celebration that fails to lift their factor with the federal government.

The group has been facing difficulties because the land revenue records don't mention the group as tribal. The land revenue records mention them as ‘Koli’ which comes under the other backward categories (OBC), because of which the group isn't able to revel in the benefits as tribal. As the land revenue records don't acknowledge the group as tribal, formative years of the group getting government jobs in ST quota are receiving notices.


“The factor rose when the federal government started the exercise of digitizing land revenue records. In the method, we had been discussed as both Koli or Rathwa Koli which makes us OBC. The celebration which is not going to reinforce us may not be allowed to campaign in our region and their candidate can also be boycotted,” Jemal added.
