Smart watches banned in SSLC exam halls

BENGALURU: Students appearing for the SSLC examinations in March-April 2019 can wear analog or mechanical watches but not virtual ones, stated a round from the department of public directions (DPI).

The round has come as a aid for students who were disillusioned with the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB)’s plan to prohibit all watches.

“The stories of ban on a wide variety of watches created plenty of confusion and we’re nervous about time management,” said Tanu Kamath, a student from Jayanagar.

Another student, Kanika V from JP Nagar, said: “I’m pleased with this resolution. I had in truth started training writing examination without using an eye. How may just they even think of banning all watches when students should not have sufficient time to have a look at the wall clock while writing examination?”

On November 28, 2018, TOI had reported concerning the students’ call for to prohibit best sensible watches. KSEEB had earlier steered protecting best wall clocks in examination halls within the wake of malpractices committed by way of students with the help of virtual watches.

“People deployed for frisking at examination centres will likely be alerted concerning the ban on sensible watches or dishonest watches,” said KSEEB director V Sumangala.

Though students wear sensible watches inside of SSLC examination halls, no such dishonest case has been reported so far. Instances of virtual watches being used to dedicate malpractices in checks carried out by way of different forums and universities prompted the proposal, said KSEEB officials.

About 8.four lakh students will write the checks, beginning from March 21.

Restriction needed

During checks, students are reminded from time to time concerning the time left to finish writing paper. Restriction on use of best sensible watches is a safer possibility, as banning all forms of watches may make students worried

Wrist watches don't seem to be important for students as they will be up to date concerning the time. The resolution to restrict students from dressed in virtual watches will indubitably curb malpractices. Students steadily employ quite a lot of tactics all the way through board examinations, and now, they will be managed

I’m pleased with the verdict to prohibit virtual watches. Students cleverly use them for different functions moderately than checking time all the way through checks. It’s a distraction for others too
