Don’t need tourists who come in buses & cook on road: Manohar Azgaonkar

PANAJI: The state doesn’t want tourists who come in buses, prepare dinner on street, consume and go back, mentioned tourism minister Manohar Azgaonkar on Friday. The minister’s view appears to be identical as that of the tourism business stakeholders, who have maintained for many years that the state govt should pay attention to what sort of tourists the state has been attracting.

Tourism stakeholders feel that the federal government needs to make concerted efforts to attract high-end tourists and take steps to deter the tourist who come in buses from growing nuisance.

Without specifying what his ministry intends to do to change the situation, Azgaonkar mentioned, Goa has to be developed into no. 1 global destination, however no longer by way of destroying it. “Goa is God’s reward. It’s stunning. Not simply Indians, however people across the world love to seek advice from it,” he mentioned all the way through an tournament to launch Raj Bhavan tours.

Tourism minister mentioned Goa doesn’t need tourists who seek advice from the state for medication. “Goa doesn’t need hotels that promote medication. We don’t need tourists who cross to beaches and damage bottles,” mentioned Azgaonkar including that Goa will welcome tourists who admire the state’s tradition and Goemkarponn.

He mentioned all of the sea coast must be developed with facilities comparable to locker rooms and washrooms for tourists. Those facilities will be constructed below the Centre’s Swadesh Darshan scheme.

Very few beaches alongside the 105 km sea coast of the state have bathroom facilities which were constructed only all the way through last few years. At some beaches, Goa Tourism Development Corporation confronted issues in construction bathroom blocks and other facilities because of opposition from locals.

The minister mentioned the tourism coverage will be finalised after due consultations with all MLAs. The coverage has been drafted as a part of the tourism masterplan, a imaginative and prescient file prepared by way of a consortium of KPMG Advisory Services Pvt Ltd, and Tourism and Leisure Advisory Sl (T&L).
