This yr I made a profit of best Rs 490 after promoting 19,000 kg of potato. I have sent the quantity to PM as a mark of protest. I am hoping the CM will take cognizance of the plight of farmers who are not even able to get what they spend.”

Farmer leader Shyam Singh Chahar said, “The central and state governments had promised to double the income of farmers. However, no concrete steps had been taken to fulfil this promise so far. We are planning at hand over a memorandum at the suffering of farmers to the CM on Friday.”

Rajveer Lawaniya, district president of Potato Growers’ Association, said, “Farmers who spend Rs 700-800 on consistent with quintal of potato are getting an MSP of best Rs 549.
