In police stations, seized vehicles to make way for greener pastures

GHAZIABAD: Police stations in Ghaziabad will soon be free of scrapped cars. At many police stations, more than 50% of the distance has been occupied by means of cars seized either all the way through checking drives or are case homes in legal circumstances.

SP (town) Shlok Kumar, who is tracking the auctioning of scrapped cars, stated that just lately 129 cars have been auctioned from Khoda police station and round 30 cars would soon be removed from Indirapuram police station. The reclaimed space will be used for developing gardens or for constructing sports amenities.

According to an estimate, there are over 1,500 unclaimed cars parked at 16 police stations within the district.

A lot of abandoned or impounded cars and bikes, frequently covered in dust and ruins and lying in a heap, jostle for space on the premises, giving the impression of a junkyard. This scenario is grim at Indirapuram, Kavi Nagar, Sahibabad and Vijay Nagar where many cars are found parked on roadsides in addition to in inexperienced belts.

The downside has been compounded by means of the regional shipping division (RTO), which doesn't have an area of its own and park cars at police stations after seizing them all the way through checking drives.

Transport division officials stated that even below the rules, they are supposed to hand over the cars to the closest police stations after issuing seizure memos to the house owners.

Cops stated keeping an eye of this pileup is a large headache for them, as miscreants are always on the lookout to thieve stereos, tyres and other valuable portions from those cars. They added that many of the cars are either recovered from criminals inquisitive about automobile thefts or inquisitive about street accidents.

“In a lot of circumstances the automobile house owners don't flip up to accumulate their homes even after court docket orders, especially in street coincidence circumstances,” stated an SHO.

“There is a suggestion to increase a scrap yard by means of the district management so that the seized and impounded cars will also be stored there as a substitute of police stations. However, till the time the sort of facility comes up, we have now the option of auctioning such cars after in the hunt for the court docket’s order. A visible exchange will seem at police stations within the next couple of months,” stated the SP (town).
