Pune: MCOCA invoked against gang of seven

PUNE: The Khadak police on Thursday invoked stringent provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act against seven males from Ghorpade Peth who had been involved a number of frame offences and theft circumstances.


Khadak police have arrested Shrinath alias Tikya Ashok Shelar (22), Kunal Suresh Jadhav (22), Vipul Babanrao Ingavle (24), Pramod Sakharam Shelar (25), Rahul Shyam Bhargude (22), Akshay Sanjay Jadhav (23) and Aniket Pandurang Navgire (22), all residents of Ghorpade Peth.


According to Khadak police, the suspects just lately assaulted Siddhivinayak Rajendra Hinge of Shukrawar Peth at a spot located close to Shankarseth Road. The suspects got here to the spot riding triple seats at the bikes and had been armed with sharp weapons and accosted Hinge, who used to be riding on his two-wheeler ahead of assaulting him. Following the incident, police booked the seven suspects for attempt to murder.


Police mentioned that Shrinath Shelar is main gang and the gang members regularly create troubles for the residents of Ghorpade Peth and Shukrawar Peth.


The gang members have been already booked in attempt to murder circumstances, highway robberies, kidnapping and extortion, unlawful assembly and different crimes previously two years. The suspects have been also involved within the land grabbing circumstances. Police mentioned that the gang members, all of them are unemployed, are regularly terrorizing local residents in order to extort money.
