Rajasthan college girls set to get free sanitary pads

JAIPUR : If all goes to plot, Rajasthan is about to turn into India's first state to offer unfastened sanitary napkins to college students. The department of higher schooling has determined to put in unfastened sanitary napkin vending machines in all 189 government faculties within the state from the following academic session beginning July 2019.

The transfer will take to scale a Vasundhara Raje-government measure to put in sanitary napkin vending machines at a couple of colleges and railway stations. "The department is sending the proposal to the government. An allocation of Rs 2.5 crore is required," stated Bhanwar Singh Bhati of the higher schooling department.

Rajasthan has 2.8 lakh women in government faculties. For many deficient and low-income households, sanitary pads are still out of reach. The transfer came after a consistent force through health advocacy teams to put in such machines.

The measure is part of the new government's 60-day programme - government college schooling used to be made unfastened for women as part of this too.
