SAMBALPUR: Sambalpur University will confer awards on two eminent poets, each recipients of the Padma Shri, within the first week of January.
Addressing the media on Monday, vice-chancellor of the university, Deepak Behera, stated famous Kannada poet Chandrashekhara Kambara would be given the Gangadhar National Award for poetry all the way through the 52nd basis day of the establishment on January three. Two days later, the establishment will award an honorary D Litt stage to renowned Sambalpuri poet Haldhar Nag, all the way through its 29th convocation.
Kambara, who takes a deep hobby in Kannada literature, folks arts, theatre and tradition, is a flexible litterateur. He is a poet, playwright, novelist and folklorist. Apart from performs, novels and scholarly works, he has to his credit score 11 volumes of poetry, together with two volumes of poems in English translation. He has served as chairman of the National School of Drama Society, New Delhi, and president of Karnataka Nataka Academy. Kambara would be the 27th poet to obtain the Gangadhar National Award.
Nag, on the other hand, has written a number of poems within the Sambalpuri language and is very well-respected within the state and past.
