AHMEDABAD: Vehicle registration with the sequence GJ-01 (Ahmedabad metropolis RTO) has registered a decline of 12.55%, whilst the overall decline in Ahmedabad including Vastral and Bavla RTO has registered a decline of 5.73%.
According to the information the GJ-01 sequence registered 1.88 lakh automobiles in 2018, whilst the same in 2017 used to be 2.15 lakh. GJ-27 sequence of the Vastral RTO registered 1.04 lakh towards 1.03 lakh in 2017.
Bavla, which separated from Ahmedabad RTO in June 2017 has the GJ-38 sequence which registered 20,000 automobiles in 2017 since June but in 2018 it registered 32,000 automobiles.
The Ahmedabad RTO and Vastral mixed had registered 2.92 lakh automobiles in 2018 towards 3.18 lakh automobiles in 2017. Official information finds that the number of two wheelers registered a drop of nearly 20,000 in those two RTOs. In 2018 there have been 2.1 lakh two-wheelers registered here. Even the number of automobiles registered a decline of nearly 7,000 in 2018 as in comparison to 2017. In 2018 best 54,000 automobiles had been registered towards 61,000 in the preceding yr.
Officials of Ahmedabad RTO said barring the commercial reason, there used to be no reason that can have stopped the citizens of the city from purchasing new automobiles. The metropolis is yet to peer any just right mode of mass transport which might have averted people from buying new automobiles.
Amit Khatri, a city-based road protection expert, said, “I individually feel that that the parking factor is preventing people from buying new automobiles. Apart from traffic congestion issues, I think that the usage of radio cabs has also increased in the metropolis.”
