Women MPs urge government to use majority in Lok Sabha to pass women’s reservation bill

NEW DELHI: Cutting throughout party traces, ladies MPs in Rajya Sabha recommended the BJP-led executive on Friday to make use of its majority in Lok Sabha to make sure passage of a legislation providing 33% reservation to girls in Parliament and state legislatures.

She mentioned her party helps the legislation and emphasised that laws can't be made without listening to ladies’s voices.

Sonal Mansingh, a nominated member, mentioned the rotational provision within the invoice needs attention and detailing.


Women in legislatures will deliver “grace, knowledge and solidarity”, she mentioned.


Congress member Viplove Thakur mentioned there can't be ladies empowerment until they turn into decision-makers.


She mentioned the ruling BJP had promised reservation for girls in Parliament and now the Lok Sabha must move the invoice already cleared via the Upper House.


Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu parties - AIADMK and DMK - staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha in protest towards the central executive's refusal to withdraw permission for a feasibility document on construction of Mekedatu dam on Cauvery river in Karnataka. Left party members too walked out of the House alleging political violence via the BJP in Kerala following a row over ladies's access into Sabarimala temple.
