Alumni start Rs 10 campaign to rebuild school

MANGALURU: Embarking on a unique challenge to present an infrastructural boost to the school that laid a powerful basis to their lifestyles, alumni of the Netla Higher Primary Government School at Kalladka in Bantwal have introduced a fundraising marketing campaign.
The ‘Rs 10 marketing campaign’, as it is identified, intends to pool in money starting as low as Rs 10 from the public across the state, with which they intend to shop for a piece of land and construct their school anew. The existing development, where 65 kids are lately taught, is 55-years-old and is in a dilapidated state.

While the government releases budget best to adopt restore work and maintenance, the land where the school stands is private assets and its inheritor has demanded a price for his assets. Realising the government budget would be nowhere on the subject of the desired quantity, the former scholars made up our minds to throw their hats in the ring.

The concept to boost budget used to be mooted by means of the former scholars during a gaggle chat on WhatsApp. Jayaram Navada, a former scholar of the school and lately hired as a pre-production artiste at an animation company here, mentioned he pitched the theory a couple of days in the past in the WhatsApp team titled ‘Namma Netla Shaale’ (our Netla school), which comprises older likeminded scholars from the school.

“We made up our minds to name it Rs10 marketing campaign as we predict the quantity shouldn’t be a burden on anybody. In fact, we now have gained sure responses with people contributing at least Rs 50 – Rs 100 on their very own wish,” Jayaram advised TOI.

Within days after zeroing in at the challenge, a gaggle of students, some of whom are artistes, visited the Chitra Santhe in Bengaluru last month and raised budget. Buoyed by means of the reaction there, they teamed up as soon as again at the 23rd Karnataka Sahitya Sammelana held in Mangaluru a couple of days in the past.

“We intend to demolish the present development and construct a brand new school at the similar assets. We have negotiated with its owner at hand over the property to the school for a nominal price. However, the overall value of the venture is massive. We are sure that we can pull this off,” Jayaram mentioned.
