Ambala legal services authority awards Rs 4 lakh to rape survivor

AMBALA: The district legal services and products authority (DLSA) on Monday awarded a reimbursement of Rs four.50 lakh to a rape survivor.

On the criticism of the survivor girl, a case was registered at Mahesh Nagar police station beneath Section 120-B, 201, 376, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on May 25, 2015.

In this case, an accused Vinod was prosecuted at the foundation of the criticism, who stated that on January 10, 2015, he raped her.

After the trial, the accused was held in charge beneath above-mentioned sections via the courtroom of extra classes judge Yashwinder Paul Singh on January 24, 2019, and he was sentenced most seven years of easy imprisonment beneath phase 376 of the IPC with a total fantastic of Rs 70,000.


The case was forwarded to the DLSA for looking chances of the reimbursement beneath Haryana Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013.


The survivor moved an utility beneath phase 354-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for the reimbursement.


Danish Gupta, leader judicial magistrate-cum-secretary of Ambala DLSA informed that “As according to recorded statements of the victim she isn't earning anything else and is financially dependent upon her mother. The family income is lower than Rs four,50,000 according to annum. Therefore, within the hobby of justice, an quantity of Rs four lakh is awarded as reimbursement for rehabilitation of the victim.”


As according to the tips, the convict didn't expose the reality about his first marriage to the survivor, and he had cheated to sexually assault her.
