AGRA: BJP employees from Aligarh have suggested the union HRD minister to direct the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to cancel the proposed discuss with of debatable Muslim chief and AIMIM president, Asaduddin Owaisi, to the campus on Tuesday.
Owaisi has been invited by the Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union (AMUSU) at the side of other Muslim parties' presidents to discuss the formation of a new political entrance to fight for the impending Lok Sabha polls. The BJP employees have also demanded action towards AMUSU leaders for inviting Owaisi, who is also an MP from Hyderabad.
In a letter to Javadekar, BJP Aligarh spokesperson Dr Nishit Sharma said that this kind of programme may just disturb the communal solidarity of the district. The letter states, "Efforts are on to make an educational institute a political ground. These students are trying to hurt the sentiments of the Hindus by inviting Owaisi."
"Though we will not allow him to enter Aligarh, if he comes then he will not be able to go back," threatened Sharma, adding that it's clear that individuals like Owaisi who speak about "Peace for Syria, Gaza, and Palestine" wish to disturb the communal atmosphere of Aligarh.
Reacting to the risk given by BJP spokesperson, vice-president of AMUSU Humza Sufyan said that any Indian citizen can discuss with any a part of the country and no permission is wanted. "They are not authorities to stop anyone's entry and if they make such an attempt it will be unconstitutional," Sufyan said, adding that their proses discussions are political in nature and have nothing to do with religion.
He added that the speculation to go with the flow a political entrance of Muslim leaders was mooted as secular parties and successive governments have failed to satisfy the aspirations of the group and uplift them from their marginalised standing. He added that the union would mobilise AMU alumni around the country and can grasp meetings to sensitize them about various issues related to the group.
Earlier, on February 2, the scholars' union had organised a meeting with a few such political leaders and another assembly is scheduled for February 12. Presidents of 12 Muslim parties, including Rashtriya Ulema Council, Peace Party, National Aman Party among others are slated to wait the assembly to decide the tactic of formation of a Muslim entrance.
