TIRUPUR: Around 150 villagers from Krishnapuram in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu staged a street blockade protest on the Udumalpet-Palani highway for more than an hour on Thursday demanding that forest officials ward off crop-raiding elephant Chinna Thambi that has been roaming in the space for the remaining three days.
The villagers known as off their protest after income and police officials pacified them announcing that the government used to be taking suitable steps to “take away” the wild elephant from their space.
On Thursday, Chinna Thambi used to be roaming in a sugarcane field, 3km away from Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mills' seed multiplication centre.
