NEW DELHI: After heavy storms lashed north India ultimate Thursday, turning streets white with hail and inflicting injury to crops within the area, the Met division has forecast every other spell of wet climate and hailstorms this week, in particular on Valentine's Day.
The wet spell is more likely to hit the area from Wednesday, with height activity tomorrow, and ultimate until Friday, the Met office said. It is more likely to bring snow to the upper reaches of western Himalayas and rain within the northern plains proper as much as western Uttar Pradesh.
"But the intensity and spread of the spell is expected to be less than the storms seen last week, which were unusually heavy and well distributed. While some areas, including Delhi-NCR, could get hailstorms, most places may just receive light rain," said B P Yadav, head of the IMD's regional meteorological centre here.
