Drunk man assaults cop at Kurali toll, held

MOHALI: Police on Wednesday arrested a person for allegedly thrashing a gunman of Kurali station house officer (SHO) when a staff had long past to arrest him for growing rucks on the toll plaza in Kurali on Tuesday night time.


Sawarn Singh, a resident of Majra village, near Kurali, was once drinkng liquor in his SUV, shouting and behaving inappropriately on the toll plaza, police mentioned. When cops went to arrest him, he started arguing with them. He later thrashed constable Gurjodh Singh and tore his uniform. In his complaint, Gurjodh mentioned when he attempted to take him to the police automobile, the accused attacked him.


Police registered a case beneath Sections 353 (assault or prison drive to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public purposes), 290 (punishment for public nuisance in circumstances now not otherwise equipped for), and 510 (misconduct in public through a drunken individual) of the IPC at Kurali Sadar police station.


On September 1, 2018, constable Tarminder Singh was once attacked on his neck with a sharp-edged weapon while he attempted to pacify a gaggle of brawling youths. On September 2, 2018, 3 other folks allegedly assaulted ASI Gurnam Singh and tore his uniform in Sector 11. On August 14, 2018, four drunken miscreants, all citizens of Mauli Baidwan village, assaulted a PCR constable at the Airport Road in Sector 80.
